On the opposite, I liked it that the plot was not centred on the brilliant detective and his investigation. But the Maxie family barely has time to contend with her wily ways - on the following morning the whole village is shocked by the discovery of Sally Jupp's body. However, I found it a very slow read and very dated despite it being set in the late 1950s/ early 1960s which was when the book was first published.
