I also really liked our main characters; Uncle Nat, Hal and Lenny all felt like real people though I'd say the secondary ones felt more like card board cut outs. The bestselling, prize-winning Adventures on Trains series embarks on a thrilling sixth adventure as Harrison Beck and Uncle Nat climb aboard the night train to Narvik, travelling to the Arctic Circle to see the northern lights for Christmas. Fans of Agatha Christie, or, more recently, Robin Stevens and Katherine Woodfine, should adore this mystery which makes a steam trail all of its own.

Can he solve the mystery of the jewellery thefts and catch the culprit before they reach the end of the line? While Hal was always respectful and a bit in awe of his Uncle, you could see as the story progressed how they learned to really trust and love one another. But when a precious jewel goes missing, Harrison and his new friend Lenny find themselves at the centre of the investigation. Harrison and Uncle Nat receive a mysterious letter, asking them to look in to the curse of the Kratzensteins, super-rich and powerful railway tycoons.

Readers will hear whispers in the dining car, find notes in the library and uncover unknown passengers hiding among the luggage. But the problem is, that a child detective can't go into all the interesting layers an adult book would to try and obscure who did it. Spannend maar ook bergen treinen (ik hou van treinen, ik weet niet alle details van treinen zoals Oom Ben of Lenny, maar ik hou van naar treinen kijken, de details zien, de verschillende manieren hoe het werkt, en meer). I would definitely recommend this book because it was very exciting and I was eager to find out what happened next. Harrison "Hal" Beck is an average 11-year-old with an artist's eye for details, which helps him draw conclusions about the colorful characters (and suspects) in the big picture of an investigation.

I would probably recommend this to kids who like reading Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s stones, because there might not be any magic, but the feeling of solving a mystery and discovering a new world is similar.
