So, overall for the price I think its a nice little guitar...I got the bundle with the soft case - but I am sure if you are serious about this kind of stuff, this will not last very long, I would aim higher. Once again, Yamaha impress with the level of detail they can cram into this low price point: you'll get a comfortable guitar with good tuners and a sweet tone that encourages you to play. The 2 ply body construction ensures a robustness that allow your technique to grow unhindered. The Yamaha C-Series is designed as entry-level guitars for new learners. As such, they are carefully crafted with playability in mind, something that beginners and young guitarists would truly love about this lineup. This is also true on some of the best Yamaha acoustic guitars.

The Yamaha C40 is marketed directly at beginner level players. Being full size, it is ideally suited to the adult beginner, or to children stepping up from ¾ size models. The action on the C40 is about 4mm at the 12th fret. I find this a little high although it is around average for many classical guitars. The C40 is still playable, but a higher action makes pressing the strings down harder on the fingers. This can discourage beginners. Truss rods are becoming more common in other beginner nylon string models. They provide more strength against the effects of heat and humidity and allows the action to be slightly adjusted.

The Yamaha C40II is the successor to the discontinued C40. Almost every single thing about the C40 is inherited by the C40II, with a slight difference in the tonewood and hardware used. The C40II is a more durable iteration and a perfect companion to carry around, whether it is for traveling, camping, or out-of-state visits. The sound is of course not perfect and will not hold up against more expensive guitars, but it still sounds good. Hi Richard, thank you for your question. If it's classical (Spanish-style) guitar playing you want to learn, the C40 Mk II is an excellent choice - and we don't think there's a better option at its price. It's won awards thanks to its combination of great tone and relatively low price. As it's a classical guitar, it has the wide fretboard your friend suggested. The Yamaha C40 comes pre-strung with nylon strings, perfect for achieving that warm and mellow classical guitar sound. Nylon strings are not only gentle on your fingers, making them ideal for beginners, but they also produce a rich and expressive tone that is suitable for a wide range of musical genres. Specifications Body & Bridge Collection and delivery costs are included for the first 2 years in the event of an item becoming faulty It's a great choice for first time acoustic guitar owners, although if you are serious about classical guitar you will want a more expensive model. Yamaha have opted to include the pricier wood on this budget model, and it makes a big difference to the looks and playability.

For customers in outlying areas of the country, the price of the Extended Warranty may be marginally higher, due to the potential for higher collection and redelivery transport costs. The inside of the Yamaha C40 reveals where the top is joined together, bracing, a small hole, and dirt (this is a second-hand guitar). This is because a guitarist's hands are both `dominant' when playing guitar; a player who has learnt on a non-left-hand model will be able to play regardless of whether they're left or right handed. With a sound and feel that is way above the humble price tag, Yamaha's C40 classical guitar is understandably the first choice for students of classical technique everywhere. Schools love it, teachers love it and those with a burgeoning interest in all things nylon strung love it because they can dip a tow into the classical world and score themselves a good guitar without spending a large sum of money. With over 130 years of operation under its belt, there is no doubt that Yamaha is a well-respected and trusted musical instrument maker. They combine the best of old school techniques with new technology. Taking into account the experience of the company, buying anything from them is a no-brainer. Thank you for your interest in the CS40 Classical Guitar. Generally, classical guitars are played without plectrums - instead classical guitarists usually play with their fingers directly on the strings. However, the Gear4music extended warranty scheme provides an enhanced service, and is designed to offer a higher level of protection than many 'free' warranties offered by some retailers and manufacturers. You should get an instant answer on whether your application has been successful, though in some rare cases Klarna or V12 may need to look at the application in more detail.
