The Steam client now officially supports the Switch Pro Controller, with it previously only being available in the beta client. This gives you the ability to use it with all of your PC games and even remap its buttons, should you see fit. You can easily pair Joy-Con controllers with a Windows or Mac computer from directly within the Bluetooth menu. Follow the steps below to do so. If you like your Pro controller with flip-flopped X/Y and A/B buttons, you can also enable the Nintendo button layout so games default to it (Microsoft had to go and reverse them on its controller, for some reason, and it's still confusing). If this option is not enabled, your Pro controller will be treated like an Xbox controller. Using Steam is the really easy way to get this controller working. If you aren't playing games via Steam, using a Switch Pro controller is still an option but it requires a little extra work, particularly for a Bluetooth connection. But the good news is that it's now natively recognized in Windows, which helps speed things up.

Most Macs and Windows PCs come with Bluetooth cards inside. Older computers might not have Bluetooth connectivity, which will limit your ability to play computer games with updated controllers. Mario vs. Donkey Kong was announced during today's Nintendo Direct. Launching on February 16, this new title is the first entry in the Mario vs. Donkey Kong series to hit the Nintendo Switch and the latest in the series since its last entry in 2016. Note: You only need to follow these steps if you're not using the Switch Pro Controller through Steam. It's been over a decade since it was shut down, but no MMO captures the Halloween spirit quite like City of Heroes Step 2: Next, plug in your Switch Pro Controller with a USB cable, and you’ll be asked to register it as well as calibrate the built-in gyro sensor for motion control in certain games. Nintendo's perfectly hefty controller blows away the competition on battery life and has a layout that feels just a dad different from the Xbox pad. It's a good fit for basically any PC game that calls for a controller, and we'd recommend it to anyone who owns a Switch, too: it's so much more comfortable to use than a pair of Joycons.

Using it requires some gaming savvy, which, to be fair, you probably have if you’re attempting this in the first place. It’s an imperfect solution — not every game will work, no matter what you do. For now, we’ll have to wait for the homebrew community to come up with their own methods. You don't have permission to access "http://www.argos.co.uk/browse/technology/video-games-and-consoles/nintendo-switch/nintendo-switch-controllers/c:812401/type:wireless/" on this server. Connect your Joy-Con to the Switch itself rather than to the controller grip. This forces you to play in handheld mode, but a direct connection like this should not encounter syncing failures.Step 3: Hold the Sync button on the Joy-Cons, located between the SR and SL buttons, until the LED lights start flashing. And with that you're ready to game: your controller should show up and work in any game that an Xbox controller would. Outside of the Steam realm, both the Pro Controller and Joy-cons are excellent for playing older games compatible with DirectInput API and simple controls. Both of these controllers are also suited to play games through your PC’s emulator, which is handy if you like to play old-school Nintendo games on modern technology. It might take some adjusting to get used to using upgraded controllers to play your retro favorites, but it’s a bunch of fun once you learn. There are some quirks to watch out for, such as when the pairing lights on the Joy-Cons won’t stop blinking. You can confirm that the controller is connected, however, by looking at your computer’s Bluetooth settings. If you see the error message below, move the controller around to ensure no other devices are interfering with the signal. Then try again.

If all else fails, some users have reported being able to get warranty replacements, so that may be another option for you. Be sure to look into this before doing anything with your Joy-Con that would potentially void the warranty. One more thing to keep in mind if you connect the controller wirelessly: You can’t charge the Pro Controller while it’s paired via Bluetooth. If you plan to connect it for non-Steam gaming, plug in the Pro Controller before and after, especially if it’s your controller of choice for marathon sessions. Thankfully, the Pro Controller has exceptional battery life — 40-plus hours on a full charge. Steam's built-in controller configurator recognizes Nintendo's controller as soon as you plug it in, which makes using the controller super easy in Steam games. Enabling it is extremely simple. Start by... plugging the controller into your PC.It takes a bit more elbow grease to get it working with all your games when compared to connecting an Xbox controller, but it’s a great option if you already own a Switch. Before you connect your Nintendo Switch controller to your laptop or another Android device, you should make sure that you’ve got a Bluetooth receiver and that both objects are relatively close together. Once that’s squared away, here’s how to get connected. How to connect Joy-Con controllers to your PC

Pull up your Windows Bluetooth settings and start a search for new devices, then press the same small button on the top of your controller one more time. It should automatically pair after 30 seconds to a minute.
