Even More Mega Drives!". Sega Power. No.13. United Kingdom: Future Publishing. September 1990. p.5. nocdaes This is what happens whenever you have any type of out of house artists doing work for a game, they can be lost in the sands of time if they dispute something in a finished product unfortunately. It is one of the main reasons ROMS are so important. a b c "Sega farms out Genesis". Consumer Electronics. March 2, 1998. Archived from the original on July 9, 2012. a b c d Beuscher, David. In 1986, Sega redesigned the Mark III for release in North America as the Master System. This was followed by a European release the next year. Although the Master System was a success in Europe, and later in Brazil, it failed to ignite significant interest in the Japanese or North American markets, which, by the mid-to-late 1980s, were both dominated by Nintendo. [16] [17] [18] With Sega continuing to have difficulty penetrating the home market, Sega's console R&D team, led by Masami Ishikawa and supervised by Hideki Sato, [19] began work on a successor to the Master System almost immediately after that console launched. Most importantly for European users, if you choose to play using the PAL region, the games run at 60Hz rather than 50Hz, so you don't need to deal with slower gameplay or judder as a result of the 50Hz output being resampled to 60Hz as we saw on PlayStation Classic. And of course, original PAL letterboxing is completely eliminated. Kent, Steven L. (2001). "The Legal Game". Nice that they remain available to buy (Also remain available elsewhere like XBLA), but I doubt it's a coincidence that they haven't been rereleased in several years now. We'd also take issue with the complete omission of the Thunder Force franchise, as well as fellow Technosoft classic Herzog Zwei (Sega now owns the rights to all of Technosoft's IP, so this is rather puzzling, to say the least). Racing games are also sorely underrepresented; granted, the Mega Drive port of Out Run is a pale imitation compared to the one we got on the 3DS, but it would have been nice to have at least one entry from the franchise on offer. Super Monaco GP would have been a welcome addition too, but we'd imagine that licencing headaches have prevented that particular game from resurfacing after all these years. You’re kind of a low level and predictable troll though aren’t you? All because you’re in a bizarre rage for being wrong and embarrassed. Go figure 😂🤣. Kent, Steven L. (2001). "The Legal Game". Phantasy Star 4: The End of the Millenium is perhaps the finest JRPG on the platform, and it's here alongside the two other Phantasy Star entries. The entire Streets of Rage series is also present and correct, as is the Golden Axe trilogy. Light Crusader, Dynamite Headdy and Gunstar Heroes showcase the talents of the legendary Japanese studio Treasure, while Landstalker, Shining Force 1& 2 and Shining in the Darkness are all worthy role-playing epics. Elsewhere, Beyond Oasis / Story of Thor provides an action-adventure experience that is both exciting and immersive, which is why it is considered to be one of the finest games of its type on the system. Being an emulation-based system presumably using a framebuffer, the Mega Drive Mini also possesses issues found in other retro boxes too - additional input lag. From what I can tell, input lag is increased over original hardware by several frames so every single title feels a little heavier than you might like. Even when I played the Mega Drive Mini on a zero-lag CRT, the input lag provided by the emulation is noticeable and obviously that compounds with flat panel display latency too. Almost every game if not all included in Sega Mega Drive Ultimate Collection are owned by Sega. Sega should add but not remove games to the latest compilation. Speaking of music, have heard that the sound emulation in this collection is good but not great. Would have like to see the article make some mention of the sound. Like don't know how you write a review and not mention sound emulation. Kent, Steven L. (2001). "The Legal Game". Also was curious if button remapping was implemented. There were a couple of presets on the XB1/PS4, but no way to actually map the buttons fully correctly for six button gamepads from Hori and others. Was hoping to see that oversight that was easily rectifiable, actually be fixed here (Although I'm not optimistic that it was). SEGA Europe envisage une activité en progression en 1997" (in French).
