Wilde infers out that his father Daniel must be in Witness Protection and asks if he can pass messages to him. David Burroughs was once a devoted father to his three-year-old son Matthew, living a dream life just a short drive away from the working-class suburb where he and his wife, Cheryl, first fell in love--until one fateful night when David woke suddenly to discover Matthew had been murdered while David was asleep just down the hall. Meanwhile, his relationship with his godson Matthew and Laila, the teen’s mother and former wife of his deceased best friend, continues to evolve as he explores his origins. I learned a lot about online trolls too and I suspect it's worse now than it was when this book was written. Born in 1962 in Newark, New Jersey, Coben went to Livingston High School before studying political science at Amherst College where he was a member of Psi Upsilon fraternity-alongside Dan Brown who would similarly go on to become a household name in the writing world.

How are Wilde and Peter and Silas Related in the Match – with information from Harlan Coben himself! Also be sure to subscribe to my monthly mystery and thriller newsletter, which will announce new spoiler discussions each month AND updates on my new blog feature where we will discuss ALL an author’s books and rank our favorites! For an entire decade, their families were left with nothing save for agonizing memories, with no trace of the boys ever surfacing. Terese is the key suspect in the murder of her ex-husband Rick, although she is soon cleared of the charges. Branded ‘feral’ and a modern-day ‘Mowgli’ by the media , he had barely any memory of his life or family before his days in the woods.Meanwhile, Wilde - who was previously involved in a romance with Hester's widowed daughter-in-law Laila - is drawn to the beautiful woman once again. Mickey follows Ashley's trail into a sordid underworld; one that shockingly reveals that both his father and Ashley aren’t who they claimed to be. Bennett's siblings fear he may have committed suicide because Peter's reality career - which began on a dating game that led to marriage - hit a giant snag, and Peter's been tormented and doxxed by trolls ever since.

Wilde (from “The Boy in the Woods”) apparently locates a second cousin and his birth father through DNA.

The story line for this one was a little convoluted and I was very much wanting to hear of Wilde's past. I like Coben’s writing style even if the subject matter is not to my taste but I couldn’t manage 3-stars. Misfortune however strikes their trip, as Elizabeth is abducted, murdered, and her body dumped in a ditch. There is at the same time another storyline running, about a group of vigilantes whose identity is hidden from the reader. Their family, coupled with their far reaching social connections, links them to the very elite in the political, medical, and sports world; a web that will unreservedly tangle them up in a dilemma as controversial as it is destructive.

I do love how Hester Crimstein is heavily involved with Wilde, and his friendship with her son still reminiced upon and mentioned heavily. It’s all a bit dubious and the whole DNA thing is major confusing, in fact I am still puzzled about Wilde and the cousin connection. Many thanks to Netgalley and Random House UK, Cornerstone for the much appreciated arc which I reviewed voluntarily and honestly. She tells a looooong story to explain how Wilde got abandoned in the woods: she got involved with a crime boss, also got pregnant by Daniel, then tried to leave the crime boss.Read further and you will get not one but TWO possible theories on the DNA matches between Silas and Wilde, and Peter and Wilde! Vicky and Silas lived outside of Memphis with their parents and then moved to Pennsylvania after Vicky gave birth to Peter at age 14 to 15. Mickey and his friends aren’t afraid to put their lives in the way of danger, if it means getting the answers they are looking for. The DNA angle is clever too and keeps you on your toes trying to figure out what it all means and how it aligns. I really enjoyed this book, it was a smooth read with many plot lines to follow and I was kept guessing until the end about who was behind everything.
