Samson C01U Pro USB Mic : Ask.Audio Review: Samson C01U Pro USB Mic : Ask.Audio

Extremely detailed sound reproduction ideal for recording vocals, acoustic instruments, and just about any other sound sourceThis is one of the best options you can go with if you’re looking to record with skype, doing any pod-casting, you-tube videos, video conferencing, and anything similar. I wouldn’t recommend it much for vocals, although it can be done. The 4 different polar patterns, its rugged build, and remarkable versatility make it an affordable and valuable option… Similarities & Differences Similarities So many people rave about its sound quality, build, convenience, and versatility. It’s really an all-purpose mic that is super easy to use. Complaints include size (a bit large), and you can’t include a standard pop filter unless you Jerry rig it. People were also saying it’s hyper-sensitive, but recording in the right environment greatly helps. The USB-ready Samson C01U Pro microphone makes recording easier than ever. Just plug directly into your computer and start recoding. You don't need any bulky preamps or audio interfaces, it's all built into the C01U Pro. This is ideal for mobile recording rigs, podcasting, and more. And with recording resolutions up to 16-bit/48kHz you'll get great sounding audio every time. Whether you're recording vocal and instruments, VoIP, speech to text programs, or podcasting, the Samson C01U Pro has the features and functionality you need. Nevertheless, subjective testing suggests that the tonality does stay nominally similar, provided that you remain close to the mic's axis, regardless of which pattern is selected. The high end of the omni pattern will inevitably change as you move off axis, especially with a large-diaphragm capsule such as this one. Smart Performer

It has a very nice build, is made of metal, and feels solid in your hand 🙂 Some have complained that it leaves a rather large footprint on your desk, because of the fact that it stands about a foot tall. Pros Ease of use. Samson is a bit easier to use, and it’s smaller and more portable. The Yeti is difficult to protect and very heavy. Thích hợp sử dụng trực để thu âm,livestream, ghi âm nhạc, công việc, giọng nói, lồng ghép âm cho video ....But a USB mic needs none of that. All of that stuff is inside the mic. And the power comes from the USB connection. You just plug the mic directly into your computer and you’re ready to record.

And though this is not truly a fair comparison, here is the same voiceover recorded with my Rode/Scarlett 2i2 combo (a setup that costs more than 4 times what the Samson costs). Voiceover recorded on Rode NT2-A through a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 interface Comparison with Samson Q2U dynamic USB mic Although unashamedly entry-level, the C01U is quiet and clean enough to record vocals and instruments to a very acceptable standard, provided that they are close-miked, and its performance is well above that of any multimedia mics I've tested. As far as I can tell, the subjective performance of this mic is essentially the same as that of its wired counterpart, and that model has sold well for Samson. The digital noise issue will be a concern if you have a G5 tower-based studio system, but it could be argued that anyone with such a deluxe computer should be looking for a more sophisticated mic anyway! Well, friend, that’s about it for today! I hope you now have a better idea of the similarities and differences between the Samson C01U vs. Blue Yeti… Are you convinced that the AT2020 is better? Let me know!!Basically, a standard microphone (3-pin/”XLR” connector) needs extra electronics and a way to plug it into a computer. You use an interface box for that. An interface provides phantom power (condenser mics need 48v of power), conversion of sound to digital format, and preamplification (“preamps”). Being that it’s USB, you won’t have to tinker around with extraneous gear. Some folks get scared off from USB setups because they seem cheap, easy, but not satisfying. What you’re getting here is a versatile piece of equipment with great sound quality. Speaking of:
