This book, I would say is recommended for ages 7-years and above but please take note certain topics and words might be inappropriate for children. In 2008 David’s first children’s book The Boy in the Dress was published, illustrated by Quentin Blake. The two of them have everything they could ever want, such as an orang-utan butler, a bowling alley, a cinema, and servants.Definitely a good read for children as well as an adult (I am over 30 years old) who enjoy (or are looking for) a good piece of British* literature, easy to read with a heart-warming experience of intelligent structure and philosophical message behind. I found this book funny and very good, but I found it quite childish and unrealistic in parts – it is for a young age group, but it was a light and funny read, which is great for younger readers wanting comedy, fun and a little bit of real life, this book is good. Mrs Trafe: The disgusting dinner lady who enjoys the company of Joe, Bob and Lauren, but not anyone else, and deliberately cooks disgusting food, like deep-fried Blu-Tack. I must admit the author quite surprised me - never really was much into children's stories for I find them dull and childish (maybe not the biggest issue given the target audience) however, I did enjoy Andersen’s fairy tales for they were beautifully crafted and quite intelligent in their educative message; on the other hand, I was afraid I am going to witness another 'The Elephant and the Balloon' attempt as known from Bernard and Manny!

This book is good to read and will certainly help to increase your child’s vocabulary and use of adjectives, adverbs, conjunctions and verbs. The ideas in this book are imaginative, funny and ridiculous, which is exactly what makes the book great! Following the Christmas 2012 success and BAFTA nomination of the BBC adaptation of his second book, MR STINK, starring Hugh Bonneville, GANGSTA GRANNY was aired in 2013 over Christmas.
