I don't know about you, but the planet Saturn pops into my mind with every bite of a hamburger I take.” The thoughtful analysis and engaging writing make this book an enjoyable read that can be enjoyed by anyone with a curiosity about space science." Probably the scene with the whipped cream in the coffee shop. Don't argue with Neil deGrasse Tyson about physics, he will win. No, I had to take it in bits and pieces, and feel that I enjoyed it more that way. Some of the things said challenged my world/universe view a bit, and I found it helpful to just have time to ponder and be wowed by the universe.

good general introduction to astrophysics. If you listened to my favorite universe from the great courses I would say skip this one its just a rehash from but with less content. Even the little anecdotes like the waiter and the whipped cream density I heard it all before. Dark Matter and Dark Energy featured heavily. This stuff makes up 27% and 68% of the universe respectively, leaving only 5% for the stuff we can see – like planets and stars. It’s this 95% of stuff we know hardly anything, or nothing about that make scientists incredibly excited. These were ‘discovered’ when Hubble showed the universe is expanding at an accelerating rate, not being retarded by the pull of gravity. Hence, some other form of energy is pushing the universe to expand it faster and faster. Maybe the next Newton or Einstein is in utero, right now, ready to unleash his or her intellect on solving the mysteries of Dark Matter and Dark Energy. Surely that’s not much of an ask – expecting answers to the misunderstood 95% of the universe. It’ll happen – to be sure. And yes, every one of our body's atoms is traceable to the big bang and to the thermonuclear furnaces within high-mass stars that exploded more than five billion years ago. Astrophysics teaches us that we’re not the centre of the world… it teaches us to have a cosmic perspective”Cosmos, by Carl Sagan. The audiobook is excellently narrated by LeVar Burton, and I find it to be just as "down to earth" as this one is. Little to no math, but explaining detailed concepts in a way we, those bad at math, can understand.

How about air? Also vital. A single breathful draws in more air molecules than there are breathfuls of air in Earth’s entire atmosphere. That means some of the air you just breathed passed through the lungs of Napoleon, Beethoven, Lincoln, and Billy the Kid.” Reading this book reminded me of things I'd forgotten and taught me a lot of new things. It had me wrestling with chemistry and physics which generally go over my head -- but it had me wrestling. He never lost me and I never gave up trying to understand parts that were hard for me to comprehend. As he showed in the two seasons of Seth MacFarlane's "Cosmos," Neil is the one you want as your guide to the basics of astronomy which among all the sciences has the most to discover. How exciting! Reading this been an educational, enchanting and uplifting experience. Degrasse Tyson has a talent for making very complicated concepts seem simple, and the amount of content squeezed into one short volume is impressive. He certainly knows his stuff. It takes no time at all to romp through a chapter as the book is written with humour and his descriptions verge on the poetic." — Chemistry World

Publisher details

Neil deGrasse Tyson has the gift of helping non-geniuses get a slight clue on what those geniuses are talking about. Slight.

The cosmic perspective shows Earth to be a mote. But it's a precious mote and, for the moment, it's the only home we have. Astrophysics for People in a Hurry is not at all about physics rather it consists of interesting chapters on astrochemistry too, on the creation of elements and the reason behind their existence in the solar system. Essentially, that’s the story of the Big Bang. After the dot exploded, the forces keeping the dot condensed all separated, which resulted in gravity, the electromagnetic force, and the nuclear force. The matter then went on to become a bunch of subatomic particles (or electrons, neutrons, and quarks)

In terms of how our planet came to life, we know that it happened through a small dot that expanded at a huge rate. Still, it took 380,000 years to have light separate from matter. 14 billion years have passed by, and stars emerged in the process, one of which is our precious Sun. Lesson 2: Helium was discovered before it was found on Earth. There’s one thing that scientists agree upon: we know that we don’t know. There’s only so much that science had discovered about the universe, our planets, the stars, and how life emerged. We know that the laws of physics have an effect on all these things, but we don’t know which effect that is. Astrophysics for People in a Hurry] is not quite astrophysics for dummies; while it is simplified, it is not simple. It is more a collection of the best and most thrilling moments; astrophysics’ greatest hits." Neil deGrasse Tyson is the director of the Hayden Planetarium at the American Museum of Natural History and also the host of Star Talk. He uses his knowledge and shows it in a very clear-cut way to explain different ideas of the universe. Listen To Astrophysics For People In A Hurry Audiobook Full Free MP 3:

Astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson wrote in the Preface to this 2017 book, “While most branches of science have ascended in this era, the field of astrophysics persistently rises to the top. I think I know why. At one time or another every one of us has looked up at the night sky and wondered: What does it all mean? How does it all work? And, what is my place in the universe? If you’re too busy to absorb the cosmos via classes, textbooks, or documentaries, and you nonetheless seek a brief but meaningful introduction to the field, I offer you [this book]… you will earn a foundational fluency in all the major ideas and discoveries that drive out modern understanding of the universe. If I’ve succeeded, you’ll be culturally conversant in my field of expertise, and you must may be hungry for more.” Forget about this being a book for people in a ”hurry”, this is complicated stuff. Don’t be in too much of a hurry, take your time when reading this. So, to continue the themes of topsy turvy thinking, upside down confusion and downright blatant ignorance – I will start my review by describing the end of the book. Astrophysics for People in a Hurry' বইটি পড়েছিলাম। যার নাম দেন 'Astrophysics for Young People in a Hurry'। The book's accessible language is noted in a review in BBC Sky at Night magazine. The reviewer suggests that the reader who spends their time on Tyson's work, will have a good understanding of "every part of our known Universe, how it came to be and what still keeps physicists up at night". [2] Tyson is quite adamant in insisting that most of the things he talks about are undeniably true . “The power and beauty of physical laws,” he writes, “is that they apply everywhere, whether or not you choose to believe in them. In other words, after the laws of physics, everything else is opinion.”

Perhaps, feeling more humility about our place in this universe (and Earth) is a good thing. Reflecting on our place as just one member of a family of life and matter. Understanding we are breathing oxygen previously breathed by others, drinking water once consumed and urinated by all manner of life forms, using Carbon atoms in our essential biochemical molecules handed down to us by forests and algae. In fact, we’ve been recycling for millennia. We are stardust brought to life, then empowered by the universe to figure itself out—and we have only just begun.”
