Description

At this time, there were scarcely four hundred Flesh Tearers left, and during the Cryptan War more than half of the Chapter's number -- some five under-strength companies -- were deployed in the war zones of Armageddon.

Firstly, we’d recommend letting Dante resurrect with D6 wounds the first time he falls in battle – this represents his mysterious return to life following a vision in his dying moments of Sanguinius himself. Whilst fighting before the walls of Hades Hive, during the Second War for Armageddon, the curse of Sanguinius finally stole upon him. Inducted into the Blood Angels' Death Company, Calistarius took part in the final assault on the Ecclesorium building at Hades Hive, and was amongst those buried when the complex collapsed. The Flesh Tearers were assigned the battle barge Victus from their former Legion, which served as their mobile fortress-monastery. The Flesh Tearers' reputation for savagery in battle was soon well-known, and so the terrible flaws of the IX th Legion's genetic legacy must have asserted themselves very soon after the death of the Blood Angels' Primarch Sanguinius. Achilus Crusade (813.M41) - A Flesh Tearers strike force based around elements from the 1 st and 2 nd Companies arrived unheralded during the Achilus Crusade in the Jericho Reach around the world of Herisor, soon after the first tendrils of Hive Fleet Dagon hit the Orpheus Salient. The Chapter fought a series of actions trailing along the salient, intercepting tendrils of the Hive Fleet and buying time for other Imperial forces to muster a defence. The Chapter took heavy losses in these actions, yet refused to slow the pace of its operations, throwing itself into battle after battle against the ravening xenos monstrosities that were the Tyranids.Their reputation for such savagery has spread through the millennia to the extent that some forces -- including several other Space Marine Chapters -- are no longer willing to engage in allied missions with members of the Flesh Tearers. In spite of this fact, there are numerous instances where the Flesh Tearers have worked in battle zones with other Chapters. On a number of occasions, these included other Chapters that were known to be part of the Blood Angels lineage.

When the Flesh Tearers Chapter was brought into being during the Second Founding, Captain Nassir Amit, the commander of the Blood Angels Legion's 5 th Company, was chosen to be its first Chapter Master. Of all the IX th Legion's captains, Amit's reputation -- and that of his company -- was the most bloodthirsty. More than once, the 5 th Company had been called to censure by Sanguinius for its zeal in pursuing enemy forces. In the wake of the Indomitus Crusade and the Devastation of Baal in ca. 999.M41, the Flesh Tearers' dwindling ranks were brought up to full strength by an infusion of hundreds of Primaris Space Marines drawn from Sanguinius' lineage. As a result, Calistarius found it difficult to look upon his fellow Space Marines with any empathy. In truth, he inhabited an entirely different sphere of existence, but his precognitive powers and devastating psychic blasts were a priceless asset to Captain Raphael. In general, the Tyranid player should have an army of a higher power level than the Blood Angels – this is, after all, a desperate final stand rather than a fair pitched battle. If the Tyranid player has a smaller collection than the Blood Angels player, worry not – just allow them to bring on destroyed units as ongoing reinforcements.

Lord of Slaughter

Seth was convinced that without their inherent fury, his Space Marines would lose what had made them true scions of Sanguinius and become something else in time, something less.
