Description

The Ork dice set comes in a snazzy green, while there are 52 datacards in total, encompassing general and clan-specific Stratagems, 13 psychic powers, and all the core Stratagems for good measure. Designed to carry a whole fighting mob of Orks, plus any Gretchin, Snotlings, Squigs or shiny things that may belong to the mob, Battlewagons are typically large, heavy and noisy. Ownership of a Battlewagon marks an Ork out as particularly prestigious or 'flash'. A typical Battlewagon owner is most likely a Nob of some description, though various Oddboyz may have access to Battlewagons at certain times. Warbosses often mount themselves and their immediate retinue in Battlewagons when travelling to battle, and may have more than one if their retinue is of sufficient size. [1] So what’s the best way to setup a Battlewagon? Well you must always keep in mind that it’s a transport vehicle and it needs to keep moving, so no larger gun options i.e kill kannon or zzap gun. The only ranged weapon you need is a big shoota. Reason is the Battlewagon has no weapon, so any weapon destroyed result turns into immobilised, bad times.

Some weapons have ‘Blast’ listed in their profile’s abilities. These are referred to as Blast weapons. In addition to the normal rules, the following rules apply to Blast weapons: Blitz Brigade - An Ork Blitz Brigade is a motorized formation comprising a large number of Battlewagons, and was a common sight on the dust-choked battlefields of Armageddon. Often the first warning the enemy will have of its approach is the distant rumble of numerous tank engines, followed swiftly by the Orks' opening salvoes. Moments later, the Blitz Brigade will be upon the foe, its Battlewagons ramming or smashing aside anything in their path, crushing defenders and defences alike beneath their massive bulk. The initial waves are sometimes laden with Boyz, eager to get into the fight at the earliest possible opportunity, but the role of a Blitz Brigade is primarily to destroy, not to deploy. Even without holds full of passengers, the sudden, devastating assault of a Blitz Brigade has broken many an enemy battle line wide open. I’ve decided to use a sub-assembly method of painting this miniature, and the reasons are two-fold. One – I want to minimize the number of times I basecoat pieces, and two – it allows for maximum interchangeability depending on what I want my model kitted out with.As Tony has gone to all the trouble of providing a special weapon for his Battlewagon we have decided to work out a special Data Record for it. The Battle Wagon is an extremely common type of large vehicle. Its design, like that of War Buggies and most other Ork vehicles conforms to one or other of the traditional types known throughout Orkdom and copied by Mekboys for many generations. Includes the Vehicle Data Record and Ork fuel tank hits table required to field this vehicle. I’ve long been a fan of Orks, and as any Ork worth his green hide knows, “Red ‘uns go fasta!” So, we will be painting this Battlewagon as either a Kult of Speed vehicle, or simply your favorite clan’s Battlewagon with a Red Paint Job. I’ve gone ahead and clipped, cleaned, and sub-assembled the model to allow me to start painting with as few basecoats as possible. So, without further ado, on to the tutorial proper. Grabbin' Klaw - Mounted on a pivoting crane arm and controlled by a number of kunnin' levers, a grabbin' klaw latches on to enemy tanks to prevent them 'runnin' away'. If a unit from your army starts your Movement phase embarked within a TRANSPORT model, that unit can disembark in that phase.

I prefer the Deffkopta as the alpha strike ability is golden, plus it makes a excellent distraction unit that can contest objectives later on in the game. The only downside to Deffkoptas is they give away an easy kill point. I always have my Koptas with twin-linked rokkit and buzzsaw, it’s the only way to do it, and they cost 70 points a pop. The fighting forces of the Imperium, Orks, Squat Homeworlds and the Eldar all have their own unique design philosophy which determines the appearance and tactical role of their fighting vehicles. All of these widely differening vehicles are covered by these new rules. You then make a Charge roll for the charging unit by rolling 2D6. The result is the maximum number of inches each model in that unit can be moved if a Charge move is possible. For a Charge move to be possible, the Charge roll must be sufficient to enable the charging unit to end that move:

Pre-selected Sets (Custom)

Beast Snaggas are all about the squigs, from Zodgrod’s living wig to the giant tramplasquigs that lug their Kill Rigs into battle. Squighog Boyz are partial to a medium variety of squig, all the better to blitz headlong at whoever they’re fighting and duff them up on the charge. This set, again available on its own for the first time, contains five models – three regular boys, a Nob on a Smasha Squig, and a Bomb Squig (whose grot rider appears not to appreciate the imminent explosion he’s riding towards, and indeed on top of). Ivan Bartleet's Superb scratch-built Nurgle War Altar surrounded by other minions of the Plague Lord These new vehicle rules entirely replace the old ones, enabling players to field more vehicles more effectively and at a cheaper points cost. No two Battlewagons are the same, for the Meks that build them can never resist cobbling on armour plates, ramming spikes, assorted dakka, and random gubbinz. However, all are rugged transport tanks with the capacity to bear a vast number of angry Orks into battle while shrugging off the worst the enemy can throw at them. Like other Ork vehicles a Battlewagon continues to be kustomised and grows to become an ever larger contraption as its owners add more weapons, extra fighting gantries and new engines, until a Battlewagon has grown into a true Battle Fortress. A Battle Fortress is a massive Battlewagon, expanded to the size and armament capacity of an Imperial Guard super-heavy tank. Such vehicles are favorite mounts for the most powerful of Ork Warbosses.

The first part of a new and improved system for Warhammer 40,000, giving you the rules plus data sheets for two Ork Battlewagons, the Rhino and the Predator. This month's special free insert is the vehicle targeting grid and vehicle turning template to accompany this article Krushas are a popular subtype of Ork Battlewagon which includes Bonebreakas, Bonecrushas, Spleenrippas, and Gitmashers. These combine armored transport capabilities with an arsenal of heavy firepower and an enormous spiked Deff Rolla to create an devastating assault vehicle used to spearhead assaults. [7] Gunwagon Units that disembark from a TRANSPORT model that made a Normal move this phase count as having made a Normal move themselves; they cannot move further during this phase. Such a unit also cannot declare a charge in the same turn, but can otherwise act normally in the remainder of the turn.

Assembly Instructions for Battlewagon – Warhammer 40’000 (40K).

If your WARLORD is a WARBOSS, then once per battle, in your Command phase, you can call a Waaagh!. To do so, that WARBOSS must be on the battlefield or embarked on a TRANSPORT that is on the battlefield. If your WARLORD is a SPEEDBOSS, then once per battle, in your Command phase, you can instead call a Speedwaaagh!. To do so, that SPEEDBOSS must be on the battlefield. If your WARLORD is GHAZGHKULL THRAKA, you can instead call a Great Waaagh!. To do so, GHAZGHKULL THRAKA must be on the battlefield or embarked on a TRANSPORT that is on the battlefield. Special Rules for Epic Ork armies, including Warbands and Warbosses; Mekaniaks; Malfunctions and the Kult of Speed One or more units from your army can start to perform this action at the end of the Move Units step of your Movement phase if they are within 1" of a Hatchway. This action can be performed by any unit that is not within Engagement Range of any enemy models, even if that unit is being affected by a rule that would normally prevent it from performing actions. The action is completed at the end of your Movement phase if no enemy models are within 1" of that Hatchway. If there are any enemy models within 1" of that Hatchway, your opponent can attempt to prevent the action from being completed. If they do so, roll off with your opponent; each player adds the Strength characteristic of one of their models that is within 1" of that Hatchway to their respective scores. If you win, the action is completed; otherwise, the action fails. If completed, that Hatchway opens (if it was closed) or closes (if it was open). Currently the list stands at 1,945. You could take 3 x 2 units of Warbuggies with twin-linked rokkits, I will note that this is equal amount of kill points to Deffkoptas anyway (and the same cost).

And while the Deff Dread you get might not be new, it remains an evergreen and efficient way to clobber your enemies. This is a fantastic box to get started on a new Orks army or reinforce an existing Waaagh!. Waaagh! Ghazghkull - A Codex: Orks Supplement (7th Edition), pp. 12-13, 16-17, 19-20, 30, 67, 69, 80, 84, 142-144

Pick & Pluck

Ork Battlewagons are as diverse in construction and weapons complement as the Greenskins who create them. A Battlewagon always possesses a heavy chassis, sometimes salvaged from other suitable vehicles such as the Imperium's tanks or heavy armoured transports. Others will be custom-built vehicles created from scratch by an Ork Mek and his assistants.
