This booklet constitutes the refereed court cases of the 4th foreign Joint convention an Ambient Intelligence, AmI 2013, held in Dublin, eire, in December 2013. The 15 revised complete papers, four papers from the panorama music, three papers from the doctoral colloquium and six demo and poster papers have been conscientiously reviewed and chosen from a variety of submissions and are provided with 6 workshop descriptions. The papers conceal quite a few multi-disciplinary themes in desktop technological know-how, human desktop interplay, electric engineering, commercial layout, behavioral sciences, dispensed units, ubiquitous and verbal exchange applied sciences, pervasive computing, clever person interfaces and synthetic intelligence.

The 7th ERCOFTAC Workshop on "Direct and Large-Eddy Simulation" (DLES-7) used to be held on the collage of Treste from September 8-10, 2008. Following the culture of past workshops within the DLES-series this version displays the state-of-the-art of numerical simulation of conventional and turbulent flows and supplied an lively discussion board for dialogue of modern advancements in simulation strategies and realizing of stream physics.
This e-book offers chosen learn papers of the AIMTDR 2014 convention on software of laser know-how for numerous production strategies similar to slicing, forming, welding, sintering, cladding and micro-machining. cutting-edge of those applied sciences by way of numerical modeling, experimental stories and commercial case experiences are awarded.
Because the first implementation through Electricité de France at the Goulours dam (France) in 2006, the Piano Key Weir has develop into a increasingly more utilized technique to bring up the release means of latest spillways. In parallel, numerous new huge dam initiatives were outfitted with this type of flood keep an eye on constitution, often together with gates.

Com/p/simplenlg/ 22 S. Bader 3 Enabling Pro-active Assistance in Smart Environments To illustrate the ideas we discuss a simple example often occurring in academic settings, involving projectors, projection screens and laptops with presentations. In most meeting and lecture rooms, all devices have to be controlled directly, that is, the projector needs to be switched on, the screen lowered for projection and the video output be directed to the correct projector. In a smarter meeting room however, it suffices to connect the laptop to the room.
Other studies proved advantages of NFC touches and visual codes over Bluetooth scanning approaches for dedicated use cases [12,13]. Comparing NFC and 2D codes directly in the context of smart posters unveiled the easier learnability of 2D code capturing, whereas trained participants preferred NFC . However, related studies unveiled security concerns regarding touching gestures in public places . In contrast to such previous studies, we investigate these techniques as pairing modes for public displays and thus as enablers for subsequent interaction.
1 on average. All participants had seen visual codes before (20 had used one in practice), 23 participants had heard about NFC (3 had used it), and 27 participants knew Bluetooth scanning (25 had used it). The Screen Is Yours—Comparing Handheld Pairing Techniques 37 Fig. 2. The test setup contained two large screens with exemplary interactive applications (left). One of them was a public poll showing a topical question and three possible answers after the successful pairing (right). 2 Setup In our test room, we arranged two flat screen TVs with screen diagonals of 47 and 55 inches, placed on bar tables at a typical height of public displays.
