Compare: Record this verse in two or three other Bible translations and underline key words that are the same or different between translations. What have you learned about God’s character? This is your journal, and your study time with God. And more than anything, make it YOU… and God will meet you in that unique and intimate space. Concordance and Lexicon; hardcopy or App. My favorite App is Bible Hub and my favorite concordance is Strong’s Expanded Exhaustive Concordance. These are the tools you’ll use to define your keywords. It was a true gift when the Holy Spirit led me to verse mapping and I began to break away from topical studies and focus on line-by-line studies. I began to see how things in the Bible fit together. Before I always felt like the verses were scattered puzzle pieces and I didn’t have the cover of the puzzle box showing me what things should look like. I had a general idea, but nothing I could put my finger on. But when I discovered systematic line-by-line studying, I felt like I could finally see the cover of the puzzle box with all the pieces just waiting for me. I stopped shying away from talking about biblical things and became more confident in what the Holy Spirit was teaching me.

You don’t need any fancy tools to get started, but on the flip side, you can also use your creativity to make your verse mapping more meaningful and fun.
