Activate ‘Find my buds’–Being able to ping each earbud and the charging case independently is awesome if you ever lose an earbud or the entire charge case and need to find it. Not only can you make the earbuds play a loud noise to help you locate them but you can also see their location on the map within the app. Jaybird made a big deal about dubbing its first Vista buds as ‘Earthproof,’ in a slightly over the top way of saying they’re built for rugged use, should be good for a run in the rain, and will still function if they get a bit dusty. And by ‘moving’, I mean anything at running or riding pace. While I’ve been trying many different modes over the last week, I spent half my bike commute this morning trying every possible option for ANC & SurroundSense to see if any were viable, and simply put – none were. control buttons on full wireless models usually require pressure to activate the button which jams the headphone deeper into your ear or use too-sensitive touch controls, while the wired between the ears models have a control box that doesn’t need to be jammed into the ear.

This feature has been so awesome while running – I instantly feel safer, knowing that I can accurately hear cars, bikes, and other people. What helps massively in the comfort department is the Vista buds’ weight. Each bud weighs in at just six grams. This, along with the fact they’ve been designed with a fully connected casing (meaning the ear tip and wing tip are all one piece), marks for an incredibly cosy fit. Consequently, they’re absolutely perfect for long runs, intense workouts, anything, basically. If you're looking for a pair of serious workout earbuds, the Jaybird Vista 2 are my winner. They have a more secure fit, and they are really rugged, so there's less chance of your sweat killing them. Their tiny charging case that comes with a lanyard is a nice bonus, too. Connectivity and Stability Issues: Some users have reported connection issues and intermittent drops in audio quality. These issues could potentially be improved in the next release by using newer Bluetooth technology. The app makes it easy to see battery status but it's 8 hours from the earbuds (or 6 with ANC or SurroundSense mode) + two additional charges from the case (Image credit: Josh Ross)One noticeable change compared to the original Vista is a more textured finish on the outside of each bud. Jaybird calls this WindDefense fabric, which is essentially included to help stop wind from interfering with taking phone calls. In this Jaybird Vista 2 review I go over the key features, and why they matter in the real world, what these Jaybird wireless earbuds are like for running, how they compare to the original Vista, where to buy them, an image gallery, and my final rating with pros and cons. Once paired up, you’ll want to grab the Jaybird app. The reason being that’s how you change all the settings. You can use it without ever touching the Jaybird app (I did so for a few days initially), but if you want to change sound profiles and do other customization, you’ll need that. The app is free, and easy to install: By the way, I have another pair of earbuds (Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless) and they work fine with the Garmin FR945. Jaybird may have been one of the first in the sports headphones market, but it's far from the only player. Pretty much every major headphone manufacturer now has a wireless sports pair to rival Jaybird's, and most of them are a little cheaper, too. So why should you consider Jaybird over the likes of Sony, Bose and JBL?

The tips of the buds create a secure and well-sealed fit that allows improved audio precision, and less harmonic distortion, leading to a wonderful balance of great sound and warm bass. In the box, you’ll find 3 different sets of silicone Eargel tips and wings to choose from depending on your ear shape and size, this will ensure the best quality seal for your ear shape and the most immersive experience possible. Jaybird Vista 2 Battery Life While ballistics are not typically part of most iron-distance events, many of the other aspects of the list above are a normal part of endurance sports training and racing. Which again, is probably why Jaybird units are known to last a while. The only downside to the design is that by focussing on fitness first, the earbuds are missing a few basic features. For starters, there’s no ambient sound mode – this is apparently due to the added weight the mics needed would bring. There’s also no Qualcomm aptX support, though given how rare the codec is on running headphones, this is hardly a surprise. The Vista have been designed from the ground up with runners and gym goers in mind Battery life The case also charges via USB-C, and can top-off your buds up to an hour’s worth of playing time in 5 minutes (the same as the Vista 1).

What’s the difference between the Jaybird Vista and Jaybird Vista 2?

Added Find my Case: The case actually has GPS in it, but that only works when in range of Bluetooth The downsides? There’s always one, right? This time, it’s that there’s no active noise cancellation. Still, the secure fit of the buds offers a decent level of sound isolation, so it’s not all bad. Jaybird Vista revew: Workout performance Active Noise Canceling (ANC) is new to Vista 2, and I’m so happy to see this feature finally arrive because having noise canceling earbuds really improves the sound quality and immerses you in your music. Finally, note that on the outside of the buds you’ll see a new fabric-looking section. That’s what Jaybird calls their ‘WindDefense’ fabric, which aims to act like a dead-cat on a microphone, and reduce wind noises before they get to the mics. Both earbuds have mics in them, as each side can be used independently in a singular mode, as some people prefer only using one bud at a time for awareness reasons. You won’t find some noise-cancelling or ambient sound features here, like the Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless, which uses external microphones to play outside noise inside the drivers, keeping you more in tune to your surroundings. We’re told that Jaybird wouldn’t have been able to keep the dimensions down if it included these kinds of features, which holds true when we consider the bulkier earbuds of those other models. Our verdict

Inside, there’s a simple pairing button to pair up new devices. You can pair it to multiple devices. For example, I have it paired to my iPhone, my Windows computer, and my Garmin watch, all concurrently. It won’t play audio concurrently to all of them, but you don’t have to re-pair it each time. All that’s pretty normal. As mentioned in the 'what's changed' section above, the hardware that creates the sound hasn't been changed in the Vista 2 (compared to the Vista), but thanks to the new features added, the buds are now even better suited for loud environments and workouts in general. The new buds have the same behaviour: they work perfectly fine with phone and TV, but as soon as I connect them with the Garmin FR945, after about 15 minutes I have a disconnection.
