We're now exploring the FIRST EIGHT YEARS after G-Day, the moment when everyone on Earth got a genie and one wish. He worked on it from his Portage Park home, where he lives with his wife of 10 years, their two young children and their cat, Simon, who makes some cameos in the book. Will: I always told myself, "Get ready, Will Williams, because it's a big world out there and anything can happen. Not entirely, mind, but as the story switched into a mix of superheroes, family drama, utopia/dystopia, I wasn't as invested any longer. Because of her mother's wish, Betty is immortal until she makes a wish, so she is determined to become the last person on Earth to do so.

Brilliant concept: every single person on Earth gets a genie at the exact same time and one wish, anything they want.but he requires some ability for belief in his victims for this to work out: people that believe in nothing at all, such as lawyers or eventually Robbie, are unaffected.

He kills Floyd after the latter's forces attack El Futuro and kill its leader, at which point Robbie promises to protect the people of El Futuro himself (including Betty and Carlos, who start a family) and leads the haven for 54 peaceful years before dying of old age. One person who wishes for a lightsaber accidentally starts a fire that engulfed all of downtown Detroit. The seemingly-adult King Power tries to comfort Robbie by admitting with his dying breath that he's only 11. Eight Billion genies tries to accomplish a lot across only eight issues though, and it feels like as a result, nothing here packs a huge punch. Eight Billion Genies certainly has the look of a book that is different, but definitely a lot of fun.

Justified because Will Williams' wish was for the bar to remain unaffected by any other wishes, making it a safe haven from the madness outside. They're also shown to be Polyglots able to speak every known Earth language, addressing their chosen person in the language they're most comfortable with, be it English, French, Spanish, or Mandarin Chinese. That force of love is a powerful theme throughout the series, driving two biological families, and one found family, to seek out refuge and opportunity in a dangerous and a chaotic world. The effect with such a short book is that it feels a bit rushed at times, like we're just jumping from idea to idea, skipping all the juicy bits, and ultimately feels like an awesome bullet-pointed outline.

Eight Billion Genies is an eight-issue Image Comics comic book series written by Charles Soule with art by Ryan Browne. We all love to fantasize about being rich or having superpowers or everyone loving us, but I bet most of us haven't thought this whole thing through. And yet, the genies remain excited and willing to grant as many wishes as they can, going so far as to nullify wishes that would negate other wishes.

In flashbacks to his youth, Floyd is playing with Battle Beasts action figures, and is shown wearing a Bubblegum Crisis T-shirt. His past is shrouded in mystery and at some point he learned to speak fluent Mandarin Chinese, acting as a translator for Wang and Lifeng. Stripped to the Bone: When Wang vaporizes Bernie's face, all that's left of the blackmailer's head is his skull, which promptly falls off his body and onto the table. I never felt like it fit too well with the premise, to begin with, and it started to break things as we got into decades towards the end.

Recently tapped as a creative consultant for Lucasfilm, Soule has also authored several Star Wars novels. The art is visually striking and well done, the storytelling (and clever use of time passing) is put together nicely, and the characters are flushed out throughout the duration. Attack of the 50-Foot Whatever: A common wish is to grow gigantic, with everyone from children to adults wishing to tower over buildings. This is a lie, since Will is a genie who's been through over a dozen cycles already, and would have anticipated a Wishplosion apocalypse. Genius Loci: Someone's wish has given the Earth a face, arms, and legs, while another wish has made the moon a ravenous being that devours Santa Claus and his reindeer. The title and basic premise alone had me hooked from the first moment I heard about it; everyone on Earth gets a wish, what happens next? My issue, though, is that they tend to backfire spectacularly, played far too obviously for laughs: honestly who is going to get one wish and immediately ask for a dinosaur made out of cars? It doesn't help that when she does meet people, they instantly think she's some Cthulu-esque Eldritch Abomination and attack.
