The construction of the Cruise 10’8 is impressive. You will be amazed at how stiff it is once inflated. It is awesome to be able to roll up your SUP and put it in a bag. But when paddling, you want it to be as solid as a hard paddleboard. If the iSUP is soft, you won’t have an easy time. The board will flex and that will be a very unstable ride. With the Cruise 10’8 and the Cruise 12′, I especially liked the high-quality finished edges. When inflated, both boards are extremely stiff and especially the edges are extremely hard, which allows for fast turns. In my opinion, boards from Bluefin can easily keep up with brand boards in terms of quality, which are clearly in the four-digit range. Material and Weight Paddling while sitting in this seat is very relaxing and easy to do when you are using the supplied dual blade paddle. If you are looking for a true canoeing experience you can just use the normal SUP paddle.

There weren’t any instructions for setting up the board, but this wasn’t a big deal as everything was pretty straight forward (e.g. putting the pump together and attaching it to the valve). Blowing up the board itself was easy, too, and I think it’s really useful that around the valve, Bluefin has written what PSI you should pump the board up too, so you’re not left questioning whether you’ve done it enough. First of all, let’s start with the familiar inner workings that have now become completely commonplace among inflatable paddle boards. The Bluefin Cruise boards have always been among the stiffest and most resilient inflatable SUPs, but we can’t advise you to push them to the limit for best performance.

The respective main color shapes the look of all sides and is complemented on the nose by a matching geometric stroke pattern. The 12er Bluefin Cruise with its length then already has clear touring genes. If longer distances with good speeds are on the agenda or you simply need a high load capacity, this model is perfect. Its 366 cm make it glide well and straight, but it is not as maneuverable as its shorter siblings. The single-chamber dual-action pump makes your work easier because it inflates on the downward and upward stroke. It is slim and lightweight with an ergonomic grip. It slips nicely into the bag, thanks to the compact design. b. The Paddle The advantage of these boards is that they offer a lot of tipping stability. This is especially beneficial for beginners who still find it a bit difficult to keep their balance on the board. All-round boards like the Bluefin Cruise 10’8” therefore place less emphasis on top speeds and more on stability and riding pleasure. The three-piece paddle from Bluefin was upgraded with some new features and a completely new design to match the new SUP board.

Another and maybe even the most important innovation concerns the construction of the boards. Bluefin now relies on the innovative welded fusion process (MSL), which completely preserves the known stiffness, but makes the boards much lighter! The surrounding rails are also blue and labeled with the manufacturer’s name. To me, the design makes a really good, sporty impression and especially the underside is strongly reminiscent of a surfboard. Other Features The Bluefin Cruise is made of several layers of PVC that have been glued together. In the production process, the so-called drop stitch method is used. Boards manufactured by means of this process are particularly stiff. So if you want to have fun with your board for a long time, a Bluefin Cruise has always been the best choice. The fin setup is always decisive for the riding performance. And that’s where the 3 removable fins provide plenty of leeway.

Also included with the Bluefin 10’8’’ Cruise is a short leash, which you can attach to a D-ring and wear over your ankle or calf. This leash is helpful for preventing the board from drifting too far away from you if you fall off the SUP or want to take a swim, but don’t make the mistake of believing it will help you float any better. Make sure you stay safe by paddleboarding by always wearing a PFD, even in slow or shallow water. The volume of the individual air chambers naturally varies with the board size, so that the boards have different buoyancy accordingly.

Fins This of course changes if you want to get into SUP surfing, then you’ll want a board that is small and very manoeuvrable, which means it won’t glide at all well.Luggage Net: In addition, the Cruise has a luggage net that can be used to transport a water bottle or a drybag. A positive feature is the additional neoprene cords, which make it possible to carry more equipment. There are still 5 free D-rings (for the leash and an optional kayak seat) and 3 carrying loops (in the middle with paddle holder). The luggage net still has side straps reinforced with neoprene, but is now removable with a carabiner and has reflectors on the front two D-rings and there are 2 new action cam mounts on the rear two. Th Bluefin Cruise advises to pump up to 15PSI, so it does pump up to an acceptable level. It is not as much as some of the very top-end brands (Red Original paddle boards typically pump up to 20PSI for example. The board can hold a much higher pressure than other paddleboards at a similar price, which makes it far more solid than other low to mid-range inflatables. Being able to withstand a huge 28PSI gives the board more rigidity and stiffness. On the water this will help the board feel stable, more manoeuvrable and be able to withstand chop without feeling like a bouncy castle.
