generally works very well in most every regard: action, acting, production design, story, and pacing. Against his wife’s (Sharon Stone) wishes, Quaid goes to Rekall, a memory-implant company that promises a thrilling virtual trip to the red planet. With a consistent ultra-fine layer of grain present and coming in noticeably thicker in a few darker sequences, the native 4K transfer delivers an attractive film-like quality. Aside from the nostalgic fondness, the script by Dan O'Bannon and Ronald Shusett, the same pair that penned another sci-fi classic in Alien, also landed with some highly intriguing concepts. Dialogue - key here - is well prioritised throughout, given balance and clarity, with depth and resonance, taking priority across the frontal array.

The previous Lionsgate Mind-Bending Edition Blu-ray included a 2012 interview with Paul Verhoeven, a restoration comparison, and an additional still gallery. In fact, I love most of the films by the Dutch filmmaker, and this now-classic actioner has been dearly beloved ever since I first watched it in cinemas.minutes): In addition to the aforementioned Richard Dreyfus, David Cronenberg was originally attached as director, but that version eventually fell apart, which gave Schwarzenegger an opening.

Three new bonus features, including a comprehensive look at the history of the ill-fated Carolco Pictures, were commissioned for this edition, and several past bonus features were ported over too.So much so that - probably for a number of reasons, including partly because perhaps Hill may have negotiated a reduced fee to have Horner work on his subsequent movies - Horner has replicated vast swathes of it for half a dozen of his subsequent scores, a practise that undoubtedly contributed to his being labelled as a hack. His instincts on this were spot on, and it's why that approach worked so perfectly in his films and has become themost popular approach in modern movies. It does, however, come with its fair share of softer and poorly-resolved moments, which stand out all the more given how good the rest of the movie looks.

Though there is some repetition from the commentary and some of the newer features, there’s more material around script development and the original Philip K.Total Excess is an excellent hour-long documentary on the history of Carolco newly created by Ballyhoo Motion Pictures, interviewing the likes of David J. Watching it again for the n'teenth time, I'm always reminded of that bygone era of wonderfully gory R-rated movies from the 80s and the early 90s. The documentary looks at how the company was formed by Mario Kassar and Andrew Vajna, and how they would come to make First Blood and its eventual sequel, which became a huge hit. A man who claims to be Quaid's former acquaintance gifts him a suitcase containing supplies and a video recording in which Quaid identifies himself as Hauser, a Cohaagen ally who defected after falling in love.
