Of course Fente and Sintara would be squabbling over who gets to shape Thymara and Tats’ child rather than helping her. This books redeeming qualities revolve around fleeting moments of action, a few fun surprises, and a trip that involved dragons.

I love how awed Perseverance is by Fitz’s identity 😄 Still, why isn’t he affected by the Obliviation? However, once she finally did pick up where she left off, oh man… Let’s just say this is the first time in my experience with Hobb's book that I found her book incredibly hard to put down. It was published by HarperCollins and released in August, 2015 [2] and continues the story of FitzChivalry Farseer and his daughter Bee after the events of Fool's Assassin, published in 2014.A man on the doorstep of death at the end of Fool's Assassin to a man adamant to avenge the death of his child, we see a drastic change in him here. For reasons I can't fathom, many people seem to skip the excellent Liveship Traders series and more have skipped the quite enjoyable Rainwild Chronicles. Lant is still often irritating but he’s also reminding me of early Sedric in some ways, and Sedric became one of my favourite characters, so who knows how far Lant will still go. And Fitz also overheard quite a bit about the Fool carving his face onto Paragon, so would he really be so clueless when Malta alludes to it yet again? Everything is written in such amazingly vivid detail, and even when things aren't tense (which most things aren't in this book) it is gripping and extremely difficult to put down.

Like, I still don’t understand how the Skill is connected to the Silver or why the Rooster Crown was so important.

The first portions of the book were agonizing because Fitz just didn't know that his daughter had been taken and his keep raided, his people brutalized, raped, or killed. Bee does not receive a lot of page-time in this novel, and when she does the complete juxtaposition in character from that of her father rubs a little raw at times. It is a structure I like, and in this book it is emphasised because it is the third time she has done it with these characters. If I hadn’t been off exploring ruins and beaches and mountains, or confusing locals with my garbled attempts at speaking their language, I probably would have blazed through this much quicker!
