Description

With a reputation for innovation and technological excellence, McLaren is one of the UK’s largest independent companies.

The McLaren Group is a global leader in luxury automotive and elite motorsports with a focus on its Automotive supercar and Racing businesses. If you want to build it in another color, export the partslist and simply swap the white parts into the other. Compare this MOC to the new Porsche set #42096 of which nearly 1.100 parts are common with this MOC, especially the new panels #18944 and #24119 in white. The 581-piece set also features two LEGO minifigure drivers in their his and hers McLaren ‘race suits’.Founded in 1963 by racer, engineer and entrepreneur Bruce McLaren, the Group is formed of McLaren Automotive, which hand-builds lightweight supercars; and a majority stake in McLaren Racing which competes in the Formula 1 World Championship and INDYCAR in the US. Inside there are 10 numbered bags 1-4, an unnumbered bag, and, of course, the tires. It’s immediately apparent that there isn’t a ton of meat to this set. To be honest, it feels like the initial assessment of the contents is that they don’t live up to the box size.

Sixty years ago, New Zealand-born racer, engineer and visionary Bruce McLaren set-up the racing team in England that remains one of the world’s most successful names in motorsport. McLaren is the only team to have won the ‘Triple Crown of Motorsport’ with race victories in the Monaco Grand Prix, Indianapolis 500 and Le Mans 24 Hours. In the 1960s, Bruce himself unveiled the M6GT, the first ever McLaren supercar. The company’s product portfolio of GT, supercar, Motorsport and Ultimate models are retailed through over 100 retailers in over 40 markets around the world. Most recently, the company unveiled its all-new high-performance hybrid supercar, the McLaren Artura. And, naturally, you can’t help but play with the differential too, just to make sure it works (wink). Sadly, depending on how you look at it, this is the most complicated part of the whole 18+ set. In fact, aside from the typical issues of uncooperative pins, this set really isn’t much of a challenge or terribly interesting/exciting from a mechanical standpoint at all. Then in 1993 it designed and built the McLaren F1 road car - the company has not built a car without a carbon fibre chassis since. As part of the Ultimate Series, McLaren was the first to deliver a hybrid hypercar, the McLaren P1™. In 2016, it announced a new hybrid hyper-GT and confirmed in 2018 that the next Ultimate car would be the Speedtail.

At this point you can’t help but play with it, though the springs are needed for additional stability and… well… spring. The LEGO Group was founded in Billund, Denmark in 1932 by Ole Kirk Kristiansen, its name derived from the two Danish words LEg GOdt, which mean “Play Well”. Today, the LEGO Group remains a family-owned company headquartered in Billund. However, its products are now sold in more than 130 countries worldwide.Compare my inventory to #42056 if using the set. Then export 42,7% parts on the left to a wishlist. As previously mentioned, once the structure is mostly finished, there’s a lot going on. But it makes for a nice-looking suspension.
