Looking for the sound of Roland’s JC-120 Jazz Chorus or your favorite British combo amp? You’ll find those and more in the Micro Cube, thanks to seven COSM amp models. Roland’s COSM technology is the only modeling method that captures every nuance of the original amps—from the preamp and circuits to the speaker. All you need is the Micro Cube for perfect tone. High-Quality Effects

The JC clean channel, The Boss pedal crunch, and saturation are some of the most noteworthy effects implemented. Its size and weight make it a very easy amp to take around; the only main con is the materials used on it. The metronome is a music-student’s best friend, but that numbing “clank, clank, clank” can get irksome. That’s where the MICRO CUBE RX’s Rhythm Guide comes in handy. It’s like having a drummer inside your amp. Choose from an assortment of groovin’ patterns to practice with. Improve your timing while having a more enjoyable musical experience, or just have fun jamming along to the beats. Outputs Roland says COSM is an amalgamation of many different modeling technologies developed by Boss and Roland to recreate a specific guitar amp’s characteristics in terms of circuitry, components and sound pathways. It likens it to CGI in the film world where complex software is used to create near perfect simulations of the real thing. COSM and the Micro Cube GX After two weeks or fairly intensive use in Turkey, my first set of batteries was still going strong, but as I sold it with the batteries still inside, I can’t say when they finally gave out! A nice addition. Plug a microphone into this and you’re good to go wherever you want. You could use it for vocals or to mic up another instrument. Possibilities for buskers maybe? EffectsWith the Micro Cube GX, you get a wide range of effects to play with – seven to be precise. You may still want to use your own external boards and pedals – and that’s fine – but if you’re on a budget there’s plenty here to keep you out of trouble.

One of the world’s best-selling guitar amps just got a cool new companion! The Roland Micro-CUBE-W is a white-colored version of the Micro-CUBE guitar amplifier. All of the Micro-CUBE’s famous features are onboard the White edition, including seven COSM amp models, six DSP effects, and a digital tuning fork. The Micro-CUBE-W also features a Recording/Headphones output and stereo Aux input for MP3/CD players, etc. Like its predecessor, the new CUBE can be powered on batteries (LR6 (AA) type x 6) or a supplied AC adapter. It also includes a carrying strap. The Roland CUBE Street is designed to be extremely versatile; it is equally at home with a folk singer as it is with a heavy metal musician. It boasts an impressive amount of amp models and effects, meaning that it is possible to perform without the need to carry many pedals with you. The eight presets it comes with, including an acoustic simulation and five amplifiers emulations are the following: Note that the app side of things is for iOS devices only. You can connect an Android device to the Micro Cube via the I-Cube Link to play music but that’s about it. The Cube Jam app is iOS only. We have no idea if Roland has any desire to develop an Android app – but don’t hold your breath. Cube Jam appFeatures: ¼” Guitar input, ⅛” aux input, four mic simulations (Condenser, Dynamic, Tube and Nylon), digital effects (Compression, Chorus, Delay and Reverb), built-in tuner, USB port, headphone output. In addition, Yamaha supplies an editor software, which works on PC and Mac, that provides three bands of EQ, bass, mid and treble, extensive controls over the reverb/delay, and extra effects (Flanger, Phase, Tremolo and Noise gate) The THR5A is specially designed for electro-acoustic guitars and Yamaha Silent Guitars. Thanks to advanced Yamaha modelling technology, it simulates classic tubes, condenser and dynamic microphones. This doesn’t enable you to save banks of your own sounds but it does allow you to save one! Noodle around and experiment with the Micro Cube GX’s rich palette of sounds and when you find something you like, hit the Memory button for a few seconds. If you manage to take this off without hurting yourself, you can also attach a normal strap and hang the amp around your shoulder and make your mischief in the pedestrian zone. A useful innovation is the memory function, where you can save a sound and use it alternately with manually set sounds. Switching via footswitch is only possible with larger cubes. Do not be deterred by the seemingly tiny 5w power rating; this amp will handle a moderately populated street. However, despite having more projection and better sound quality than the smaller Roland Micro Cube, at a higher volume this amp loses a lot of its clarity, becoming tonally muddy.

Guitarists and bassists have come to rely on Roland and BOSS for the best effects in the world. The MICRO CUBE RX benefits from this world-leading technology, offering eight built-in COSM amps, six digital effects, three band EQ, and a chromatic tuner. Immersive Stereo FX It may seem a bit flimsy and non-durable. As the cheapest option here, consider it as the budget practice amp of preference. It is also battery-powered, like the Micro Cube. The MICRO CUBE RX’s onboard stereo effects benefit from Roland’s decades of industry-leading R&D. Experience the amazing spatial depth and lush sound of the stereo Chorus and Reverb. Rhythm Guide The MICRO CUBE RX can run on battery or AC power (AC adaptor included). COSM Amps & Digital Effects Essentially, COSM is the technology behind Roland’s modeling amplifiers – like the Micro GX. The ability for a guitarist to call up a classic amp, along with a matched mic’d speaker cab takes things to another level.
