Surely, Protestants asserted, Jews could be convinced of the truth of Christianity through the right words. While a non-violent Protestant effort to evangelize the Jews was beginning to emerge in Europe and America of the eighteenth century, the nineteenth century saw the real development of organized missionary activities to the Jews in England and in the United States.
