Thus, the prospective data suggest that there may be a partial continuum in which some eating attitudes and behaviors are continuous across the recognized categories of nondieters, normative dieters, chronic dieters, EDNOS, and AN and BN, whereas personality characteristics and psychopathology are discontinuous (Connors, 1996; Levine & Smolak, 1992).
