SuperCD’s audio characteristics are the result of a considered blend of the finest electronic, acoustic and software design. UNDOK is a free app for iOS or Android that puts you in complete control of the SuperCD. This includes the ability to create a wireless multi-room system with up to five SuperCDs or other UNDOK compatible devices - all under the control of your smartphone or tablet.

The SuperSignal’s compact size would make it a good choice for a kitchen countertop or bedside table. It features a Bluetooth receiver, allowing you to play music from your phone or laptop through the R1’s high-quality speaker. We hastened to the tone controls through the menus. There are four elements to the tone controls: bass and treble adjustment, a loudness option which was ‘on’ by default, and – ah! – a ‘3D’ option. This 3D option was also on by default. Switching it off went a long way to removing the artificial spittiness from the radio sources. UNDOK centralises control of SuperCD’s various functions including DAB, Internet radio, FM, Spotify Connect and Network Audio. Music played via Bluetooth and AUX-IN modes can also be distributed across a multiroom network using the UNDOK app.

That being said, this is more than just a CD player. The Revo SuperCD is built on solid foundations, with all the features you’d find in its smaller siblings. At its heart, this is still a radio, and both DAB and internet modes work extremely well. Setting up a WiFi connection is simple, since the unit talks you through the whole process. With that done, you can tune into tens of thousands of online stations across the globe. Whatever your tastes, you’re sure to find the perfect station if you go looking for it. The Revo SuperSystem sound quality is so compelling that it makes the machine one of the top-performing all-in-one systems on the market. With a choice of thousands of radio stations from around the globe, there truly is something for everyone. With easy searching via genre and a clear and comprehensive OLED display, finding the stations you might like is simple. Like Revo’s other DAB radios, the SuperCD boasts some seriously powerful audio components. Most significantly, it includes the company’s own custom Balanced Mode Radiator speaker drivers. These help achieve a rich, dynamic sound from smaller speakers. They make a huge difference even on smaller models, but the larger scale of the SuperCD really lets it rip. The CD player's innards take up a fair chunk of the space inside, but there’s still plenty of room for some extra audio wizardry.

Performance with streamed audio

What sets the Revo apart from many of its rivals is that is equipped with a specification that goes a long way to justifying the use the word 'Super' in the title. The SuperSystem is able to offer a range of functionality that should allow it to take on a number of roles in a household. The only real issue with this machine is that it’s probably too big for a smaller room, as it would fill up too much space. It is very easy to go from Spotify in one moment to internet radio in the next. This app also brings in multi-room functionality, in case you have more than one compatible Revo device. Verdict

But if you’re happy to pop over to the R3 and switch this manually each time, you can enjoy the best which the R3 has to offer, which is considerable. It’s a delightful CD player, for example, those full-quality files filling the room with well-balanced sound.
