Demir Grappo is an outcast—he fled a life of wealth and power, abandoning his responsibilities as a general, a governor, and a son. I found the dialogue to be incredibly cheesy and like everyone delivering those unbelievable lines was simply trying too hard to be cool. He is a caring and kind person despite all the world has thrown at him and the level of privilege he was born into. I enjoyed Kizzie's sections most because I knew that something would always happen when reading her sections. A bit of comic relief is also supplied by Baby Montego, a famous fighter who is just so out there that you can’t help but find his bravado and antics endearing. Also, Demir and Thessa had character arcs involving building confidence in themselves and their leadership skills. I am considering checking out the first powder mage book aftBut if I were this books editor and I were tasked to improve upon this already good tension, I would suggest that the tall man assassin would attempt to kill all four of the different protagonists at different points. Once Braileer shows that he will not leave Idrian’s side, even in intense battle, Idrian knows that he will not dismiss him despite his greenness.

That being said, I went into this hoping that the magic of the Glass Immortals series would be at least close to as interesting and fun to experience as Powder Mage.Idrian’s chapters were my least favourite and the reason I rated the novel four stars instead of five. Now her son must sleuth out who killed her, while trying to protect the invention from being stolen by the assassins.
