Pastel Cupcakes – Photo Series & Tips
Having finished my 365 Project in September (See the 365 Project here), I’ve tried to continue photographing, even though I don’t “have to” because of the project.
So when I saw these very delicious looking cupcakes, I quickly got my camera out!
I tried to create some more pastel photographs for a change!
Camera and Lens I used
I took these photographs with the Canon 5D Mark II and the Canon EF 135mm f/2 L USM
I processed the photograph below using Natural Colours Lightroom Preset www.thebellsisters.com/natural-colours-preset-pack which is the newest “colour” Lightroom Preset on The Bell Sisters.
Processing and Tips
I processed the two photographs above with Indoor Lightroom Preset / KING Pack www.thebellsisters.com/indoor-lightroom-presets-pack-1527 I used this preset because it really brought out the pinks and pastel tones in the photograph, which is exactly what I wanted to create.
Notice the pretty bokeh in background? I created this by using a wide aperture and placing some shiny objects in the background.
The Indoor Lightroom Preset works really well for indoor photography like these food shots – especially if you love these beautiful pastel tones as much as I do!

Before and After
Here is a before and after of the Indoor Lightroom Preset
As you can the photograph looks “cleaner” the tones are less yellow and the pinks are stronger.
Wheather you take indoor portraits when it’s raining outside or when the light is beautiful, processing plays a big part in whether the photographs turns out to be good or bad.
Some photographs can look “okay” before processing, whilst some need a lot of fixing!
The Indoor Lightroom Preset does everything for you and will process your photographs with a single click of a button.
