Description

With nothing but the shirt on his back and a bottle of water, Will must learn to survive deep in the jungle. The journey to this shore would have been along the Maiden Way, an ancient road leading south from Birdoswald to Pendragon Castle, crossing the River Eden at Appleby. He is an important unseen character in Henry Newbolt's 1895 play Mordred in his usual role as Arthur's successor. Such variants include Wace's Anglo-Norman Roman de Brut, the Welsh Brut y Brenhinedd, and Layamon's English Brut.

Arthur, High King of Britain by Michael Morpurgo Arthur, High King of Britain by Michael Morpurgo

While there are important women in this book who even sometimes engage in active participation of the story, it is mostly a story about men being in charge. Michael Morpurgo retells the timeless stories of Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table in this compelling modern version. There were so many good themes, character arcs, and adventures in this, but I was always struck with how well the author put everything. Scholars note that this expansion closes the book on a much more optimistic note than Malory's sources, indicating that Arthurian ideals lived on under Constantine. Arthur High King of Britain by Michael Morpurgo | Goodreads

I found this book so interesting due to the fact that I love the whole mythos(lore/backstory) of Arthurian Legends and that I love Michael Morpurgo anyway. Other English romances that reference Constantine in passing include the 14th-century The Awntyrs off Arthure and Sir Gawain and the Carle of Carlisle, written around 1400.His tale begins with his legendary pulling of the sword from the stone, his leadership of an army to defeat the Saxons and his celebrated court at Camelot. Sir Michael Andrew Morpurgo, OBE, FRSL is the author of many books for children, five of which have been made into films.

He further adds a number of other details not found in earlier sources, identifying Constantine as a son of Cador, a Cornish ruler known in Welsh tradition as Cadwy mab Geraint. Il s’agit ici d’un livre jeunesse (à partir de 9 ans), écrit par Michael Morpurgo, grand auteur de jeunesse. Other sites in Southwestern Britain associated with figures named Constantine include the church of Milton Abbot, Devon; a chapel in nearby Dunterton, Devon; and a chapel in Illogan, Cornwall. But then Auntie Snowdrop gives Michael a medal, followed by a photograph, which begin to reveal a hidden story that will change everything - and reveal to Michael who he really is. Life for Harry becomes unbearable when his mother remarries and his baby brother is born, so he decides to run away with Ocky, a chimpanzee from the circus.Alfie and his fisherman father find a girl on an uninhabited island in the Scillies, lost and with no memory of who she is, or how she came to be there. Notable in the context of "Saint" Constantine is Custennin Vendigeit (The Blessed), the name for the historical usurper Constantine III in the Welsh Triads.
