Microsoft Project Online is available in commercial, education and GCC, GCC High and DoD subscriptions. In many cases the drive belt turns a sub-platter which sits underneath the main platter. However some models use a belt which reaches around the perimeter of the main platter, and thus avoids the need for a sub-platter in the design. All Pro-Ject drive belts are made of the highest quality materials, and each one is optimised to work with specific turntables from the Pro-Ject range. If you have one of these turntables with a fixed mains lead, you will need a 230V Motor. If you have one of these turntables with a detachable power supply, you will need this 16V Motor. This changeover in power-supply/motor only relates to the age of the turntable - not the performance.

As for set-up, it's fairly straightforward (no thanks to the slightly ropey manual), though you will have to install the drive belt, add the counterweight to the tonearm and fix up the anti-skate system, so expect it to take around 15-20 minutes in total. The upgrades that Project had fitted took performance up a clear level from the Essential II, with a noticeable widening of the soundstage, and a fuller, more lifelike sound than its predecessor. As far as generational shifts go, the Essential III has been a hugely worthwhile one, offering a noticeable leap in sound quality whilst retaining the ‘house sound’ of all Project turntables.
