Description

The Dyson V6 has a “Max” fill line that’s less than halfway up the side of the cylinder. It’s important to empty your vacuum when dirt reaches this line, not when the cylinder is completely full.

It’s also an easy vacuum to empty, as the V6 uses a simple trapdoor system to allow dirt to fall into an external bin. The Absolute combines Dyson’s V6 digital motor, which spins at an incredible 110,000 revolutions per minute to produce a maximum 100 air watts of suction, with the cyclone technology previously used in the company’s mains-powered vacuums. The 15 cyclones are placed in two radial tiers, which preserves air pressure on its way through the vacuum and helps capture smaller dust particles. When empty, we measured suction at 11kPa, or 19kPa in MAX mode; that’s on par with some of the mains-powered vacuums we reviewed last year. Impressively, this didn’t drop at all while the battery was draining, or when the bin was half or even almost full. You shouldn’t even use the Dyson V6 to vacuum up wet materials. These materials will clog the motor, ruin the brush, and potentially break the vacuum cleaner. We always recommend emptying bagless vacuums into an outdoor bin though. There’s nothing stopping small particles from escaping during the emptying process, so it’s more hygienic to empty and clean the vacuum outside. Tip: If you need a larger Dyson cordless vacuum, then consider the Dyson V11 Outsize. It’s an expensive model, but it comes with a large dust bin and a wider floorhead. Do You Need To Pull Out Clumps By Hand When Emptying The V6?For this reason, it’s important to avoid the temptation of overfilling your Dyson V6. It can be frustrating to need to empty it so often, but overfilling will greatly reduce the vacuum cleaner’s performance. The Dyson V6 doesn’t have an internal collar to push out clumps of dirt and hair. As a result, it’s common for some debris to remain inside the cylinder after emptying. Congratulations, your Dyson V6 is now emptied and ready to use! How Much Dirt Can The Dyson V6 Hold? Using one of the motorised brush heads will reduce this to 15 minutes, and engaging the Max mode lowers it further to six minutes total runtime. Max mode is only really necessary for big spills, and isn’t needed for day-to-day cleaning.

However, we recommend emptying the vacuum into an outdoor bin. The Dyson V6 is a bagless vacuum, so dust and other allergens will escape into the air when you empty it. It’s best if these particles are released outdoors!

The Dyson V6 has a dirt capacity of 0.4 litres. This is relatively small, so you’ll need to empty it after most cleaning sessions. It’s also smaller than the V7, V8, V10 and V11. If the bin needs to be cleaned, you can remove it from the vacuum by pressing the same catch a second time. Once removed, use a dry cloth to get rid of stubborn debris.
