I really wish Casio had programmed in San Fransisco or — even better — Oakland over LA, but Los Angeles it is. There’s no getting away from the heft and sheen of a metal watch and bracelet, though the Virtual Armor series has come closest.

Also the GW5000 case is larger (DW5600 size) and sits higher off the wrist because of the screwback itself, you might be surprised how different it feels compared to your old GWM5610. The holes for the pins don't line up very well so you have to use a drill to widen the holes - not a big deal but after putting it on, it really makes the watch look cheap IMO.

In the past, the “end of production” status appeared to apply globally to all markets, but it’s uncertain how the discontinuation of the GW-M5610-1JF will affect the status of the GWM5610-1 in the U. The metal inner casing and screw in case back (which I don’t think the 5610s have) add that premium quality.While I respect that the appeal of the square for many people is the toughness of the resin bezel, I can't myself wear a plastic watch. The updated module (which gained the GW-5000U-1JF and its module-sharing counterparts the added “U” in their names) now has a bright white LED, another premium feature, that can be set to auto-light when one turns their wrist towards themselves to check the time. But the biggest change, the streamlined flow of the modes and the display of current time in all modes, is really great.

The GMW-5000U-1 is easier to carry with me than the GMW-B5000-G1, which is still a little top-heavy on me despite the retrofitted steel strap. BUT, the resin used on the GW-5000 is far better than what’s on the 5610, it’s more supple and comfortable. It’s the same module (and display) as your 5610 tho, if you have the older non-U version there are some updates like LED light and I think the world time is different too…. Consenting to these technologies will allow us to process data such as browsing behavior or unique IDs on this site.The new white LED light is definitely easier for me to see in the pitch black with blurry eyes in the morning.
