Vagabond Vol. 32] (in Japanese). Kodansha. Archived from the original on February 19, 2013 . Retrieved January 19, 2010. The successor to the Hōzōin spear style, Inshun, has his own issues. He’s a natural combat genius who has never known “fear”, or had a truly serious challenge to his skills until now. Thus his growth has stalled; Inshun must learn how to deal with defeat to become stronger. His multi-chapter duel with Musashi is the centerpiece of this volume. Vagabond Vol. 16". Viz Media. Archived from the original on October 18, 2006 . Retrieved June 28, 2009. it's hard for me to become attached to the protagonist with so little dialogue and stereotypical motives During their time together, the monk dissects Musashi’s biggest dilemma, which is his desire to be with his childhood friend Otsū, who is now off on her own journey. Considering that Musashi is the main character of this series, Inoue is also interested to give every character their own narrative, including faces who we thought we never see again, such as Matahachi’s horrid mother Osugi. Following Musashi’s numerous battles with other warriors, we even get to see their side in the larger narrative as they are preparing to take down the eponymous vagabond.

I was about to sleep but I remembered thinking about this series earlier and so here I am! Damn, thank Heavens I don't have observation tomorrow! Augh! This is just simply amazing. Dang, I cried, okay! This particular volume is making me emotional. But it ended well. I think I can sleep soundly tonight. I knew it, Otsu brings out the human in Takezo. Augh, I love them!! Especially the reunion panel. This is just so good, I'm going to read the next few volumes tomorrow. By the way, who Takuan really is! I feel like there's something fishy in his identity, but since he did well in this volume, I knew I'm going to love him too. Like a half of this volume is spent hanging from a tree. It's by no means a bad thing - the main character needed some time to cool off and think - but I feel that it took maybe a little too long, and spent most of that time repeating the same few talking points with maybe some small variables. Real-life figure Miyamoto Musashi was the most celebrated samurai of all time. The quintessential warrior-philosopher, Musashi authored A Book of Five Rings, a classic treatise in the canon of world philosophy and military strategy. But the path to enlightenment is an endless journey, and to get there through violent means—by way of the sword—makes mere survival an even greater challenge.Real-life figure Miyamoto Musashi was the most celebrated samurai of all time. The art is stellar, but much of the credit for the plot and characterization must go to Eiji Yoshikawa, author of the novel this manga is an adaptation of. I see heaps and heaps of praise thrown on this series. People calling it a work of high art, a masterpiece of the manga format. And in certain ways I can see why. The art truly is gorgeous, filled with great character designs and environments.

Vagabond Vol. 15". Viz Media. Archived from the original on February 8, 2010 . Retrieved June 28, 2009. In the wake of his battle with the famed Yoshioka school in Kyoto from volume 1, Takezo (now known as Musashi) finds himself with a host of new enemies (not a new experience for the vagabond, nor one he is likely to shake) and reunited with the monk Takuan and a young boy named Jotaro...more troubling to Musashi’s peace of mind is the presence of Otsu, whose beauty and compassion cause him no little distraction. The centerpiece of this second omnibus of Takehiko Inoue's critically acclaimed series is the duel between the young, brutish Miyamoto Musashi and the second generation master of the Hozoin Temple, the perpetually smiling Inshun.Vagabond Vol. 23] (in Japanese). Vagabond is a journey. A fantastic journey of strength and the soul. In its quiet moments and beautifully illustrated duels, it is a carefully study of the persona and what it means to be human - someone who fears, who survives, and who fights to live.
